McArdle is Up To the Test

On eve of her fall indoor tour Amelia McArdle wins IHJA Junior Medal Finals

Wayne, Illinois – Her only concern was that the late afternoon shadows under the autumn sun might spook her mount. Beyond that, Amelia McArdle knew that if she gave him all the right cues, the chestnut gelding with the big, forward stride would put down a great round and that their score would get them into the testing phase of the Illinois Hunter Jumper Association Junior Medal Finals. The medal was the last class on the final day of the Showplace Fall Classic Championship Horse Show, the last chance to compete outdoors before heading East for the national indoor finals.

And after the outcome of the $50,000 Wachovia Securities Leading Rider Series Awards yesterday one would forgive the American riders for wishing he had returned home. But there were only congratulations for the affable German grand prix rider as he stood atop the winner’s podium in the Grand Prix ring of Lamplight Equestrian Center and was recognized for winning the series - having earned $102,000 in eligible prize money and besting 2nd place by $73,350. Among Field for Sunday’s Illinois Hunter Jumper Association Junior Medal Final

Among Field for Sunday’s Illinois Hunter Jumper Association Junior Medal Final - Newcomer Faces Former Winner and International Experience

Wayne, Illinois – A year and half ago Ashley Romano had never competed in an A show. Now the 17 year old from Gurnee, Illinois is preparing to take on a field of 30 other riders, many with national and international experience, in the finals for the Illinois Hunter and Jumper Association Junior Medal at the Showplace Fall Classic Championship Horse Show. Sunday’s class will be held in the grand prix ring at Lamplight Equestrian Center and is one of the last outdoor events before mid-west riders head east to compete in indoors. This year Ashley is going to indoors for the first time, she is qualified for the USEF Pessoa Hunt Seat Medal finals at Harrisburg, and hoping to qualify for the ASPCA Maclay finals by finishing well in the regional finals in Lexington next weekend. While she is a relative newcomer to the 3’6 equitation ring Ashley had several big wins during the summer including winning the USEF Medal at the Showplace Spring Spectacular Horse Show and the Maclay at Equifest I.

Showplace Productions Sets Stage for Top Equestrians to Compete in $86,000 Leading Rider Finals

Wilhelm Genn enjoys sizeable lead for top slot, Granato, Jaynes, Schaefer among contenders for top 3 finish

Wayne, Illinois: September 18, 2007 – On Saturday in the grand prix arena the winners will finally be decided and three riders in each of four sections will finally stand atop the podium to be recognized as the leading riders who will receive a share of the $86,000 in bonus money to be awarded in the Showplace Leading Rider Series. Beginning with the season opener at Ledges in May, Showplace Productions began tracking the money won by each rider’s top horse in the classic or grand prix in four jumper sections, Open, Junior/Amateur Owner, Children’s/Adult Amateur, and Low Children’s/Adult. Classes at eight Showplace Productions “AA” rated shows at Ledges and Lamplight, classes at select Equine Productions’ managed shows in St. Louis, counted towards each rider’s total. With Saturday’s classics the deciding factor, competition for the top 3 slots in each section is heated. Riders with a finish in the top 3 receive bonus money and the top 10 in each section receive awards and recognition.
