Father and Son Take Five of Top Ten Ribbons


Wayne, IL - June 11, 2009 - It was a family affair today in the $10,000 Open Welcome Stake, sponsored by Canterbury Farm and Greg Franklin. Chantal and Wilhelm Genn of Lebanon, OH, won the highlight jumper class of the day at the second week of the Showplace Spring Spectacular. The show runs through Sunday, June 14, at the Lamplight Equestrian Center.

Nutrena Provides Generous Sponsorship at the Showplace Spring Spectacular
Wayne, IL - June 10, 2009 - The Showplace Spring Spectacular is a horse show that brings in many generous sponsors from both national as well as local companies that support the equestrian industry.  One of those generous sponsors this year is Nutrena, a company that has contributed its support at the Showplace Spring Spectacular for the past five years, including the presenting sponsorship for this year's $10,000 NAL Adult Jumper Grand Prix.

Theo Genn Rides Clarissa Z to 1.40m Jumper Win

Wayne, IL - June 10, 2009 - The second week of the Showplace Spring Spectacular has begun, and the Open Jumpers started out competition this morning. In the 1.30m Jumpers, Steve Schaefer rode Barbara for DOE Enterprises to the win. Theo Genn and Clarissa Z were victorious in the 1.40m Jumpers.

Jubulent and Anna Banks Make It Two in a Row in Jumper Speed Derby


Wayne, IL - June 9, 2009 - It was "Derby Day" at the Showplace Spring Spectacular, and the festivities were the perfect way to start off the second big week of the horse show, which runs through Sunday, June 14, at the Lamplight Equestrian Center. Maggie Jayne of Elgin, IL, piloted Early Applause, owned by Pony Lane Farm, to the win in the $15,000 Chronicle of the Horse USHJA International Hunter Derby sponsored by Woodrun Farm. Earning their second win in a row at the show, Anna Banks of Wheaton, IL, and Jubulent were victorious in the $5,000 Junior/Amateur Jumper Speed Derby, sponsored by The Hope Family.

Showplace Spring Spectacular I Wrap-Up, June 3-7, 2009
Wayne, IL - June 9, 2009 - It was another great victory for Happy Z, an 11-year-old Zangerscheide mare, and rider Wilhelm Genn of Lebanon, OH, at the $30,000 Showplace Productions Grand Prix on Saturday. The pair have been on a hot streak this year, having won eight grand prix events prior to Saturday. The game chestnut was fastest in a four-horse jump-off to beat Maggie Jayne on Thomas Edison and Genn on his first horse, Chantal. Lisa Goldman and Fontaine finished fourth.

Beth Bidgood and Ashley Romano Garner Amateur-Owner Hunter Championships at the Spring Spectacular
Wayne, IL - June 7, 2009 - The 2009 Showplace Spring Spectacular concluded its first week of competition today at the Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, IL.  After two days of competition, Beth Bidgood and Ashley Romano each won Amateur-Owner Hunter championships in their respective age divisions, and Shannon Kelly was awarded the blue ribbon in the $1,000 Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic.

Anna Murphy and Caladesi Are Fastest in $7,500 Low Junior/A-O Jumper Classic

Wayne, IL - June 7, 2009 - In a day full of big money classics, the largest purse went to 19-year-old Anna Banks of Wheaton, IL. Banks rode Jubulent to the win in the $10,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic sponsored by Blue Gate Farm. Banks was fast and clean to post her second classic win of the summer over Lisa Goldman on Morocco and Kelsey Thatcher with Carlotta.

Rookie and Natalie Allen Triumph in $1,000 Copper Ridge Farm NAL Adult Hunter Classic

Wayne, IL - June 6, 2009 - Kelsey Thatcher and Natalie Allen each had victories at the Showplace Spring Spectacular today as the show continued with its fifth day of competition.  Held at the Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, IL, the horse show is currently hosting some of the country's top horses and riders in two weeks of hunter, jumper, and equitation competition that runs through June 14.

Fire Cat and Amanda Metzler Blaze to Victory in $1,500 WIHS Children's Jumper Classic

Kinsey Wins $1,500 WIHS Adult Jumper Classic, Ross Takes $1,500 NAL Pony Jumper Classic

Wayne, IL - June 5, 2009 - It was a full day of competition in the Grand Prix Ring at the 2009 Showplace Spring Spectacular, and there were three major awards presentations for jumper riders. The first was the $1,500 WIHS Children's Jumper Classic sponsored by Ashley Hill, in which Amanda Metzler of St. Charles, IL, blazed to victory on Fire Cat over 27 other entries. In the $1,500 WIHS Adult Jumper Classic, Alissa Kinsey and Grisset continued their winning ways. Abbie Ross and TNT were victorious in the $1,500 NAL Pony Jumper Classic, sponsored by Midwest Neurosurgery and Spine Specialists.

Hinsdale Nurseries and Vermeer Midwest Continue Sponsorship at the Showplace Spring Spectacular
Wayne, IL - June 5, 2009 - Two of this year's very generous sponsors at the Showplace Spring Spectacular are Hinsdale Nurseries and Vermeer Midwest, who have each contributed to the beautiful landscape and upkeep of the Lamplight show grounds. "Having the plants in the ring always adds a little bit," said Richard Theidel, the third generation owner of Hinsdale Nurseries. "It makes the rings look fuller, instead of just having the jumps out there. It is always a nice touch and we are glad to be able to help."
